Nestled between two rivers high up on a plateau in the Andes, the Spanish declared Bogota the capital of their New South American Kingdom of Granada in 1536. but people have inhabited this ancient land for over twelve-thousand years. The blending of colonial new world charm and invading jungle forest inform every aspect of this expansive city. From the markets to the architecture to the street art to the cuisine, Bogota is a swirling river of cultures blending to create a unique unparalleled beauty. The second largest city in South America, it houses one-sixth of the population of all of Colombia. On our tour we will visit the best sites and attractions of Bogota, including:

El Theatron – Enjoy The Theatron, one of the largest gay nightclubs in the world, the right way. Finding your way through the sketchy neighborhood to wait in a painfully long line only to wend your way through this mega clubs 18 dance floors can feel overwhelming. Sample a tamale that’s distinct flavoring comes from the jungle herbs, stop for a coffee made from the freshest of beans, or just take in the people and colors and sounds of the hundreds of stands.

Lake Guatavita – Venture deep into the jungle for a day trip to Lake Guatavita where we will discover the site of El Dorado. In ancient times the Muisca high priest covered himself in gold dust and bathed in the middle of this perfectly round lake deep in the forest. The indigenous tribes crafted beautiful gold pieces that they would toss into the lake to appease the gods.
